Picking up arriving passengers at London Heathrow Airport requires familiarity with Heathrow’s strict parking regulations, forecourt drop-off fees, and terminal meeting points.

Strict Rule: No Stopping on Terminal Forecourts

You cannot stop or wait on the terminal forecourts to pick up passengers. The terminal forecourts are reserved exclusively for departures drop-offs and are equipped with automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras. Stopping to collect arriving passengers will result in heavy parking penalties.

Where to Park for Passenger Pickups

  • Short Stay Car Parks: Located adjacent to each terminal (Terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5). This is the officially designated location for meeting arrivals. You can park your car, walk directly into the terminal, and greet your passenger at the arrivals barrier.
  • Long Stay Free Waiting: Heathrow offers up to 30 minutes of free parking in its Long Stay Car Parks. If your passenger’s flight has not yet landed or their luggage is delayed, you can wait for free in the Long Stay car park and drive to the Short Stay car park once they reach baggage reclaim.

Terminal Arrivals Meeting Points

Each terminal at Heathrow features a designated meeting point in the public arrivals concourse, located just outside the international customs exit doors.
